Maybe that’s why you were my Japanese highlight

It wasn’t love at first sight,

It was a wishful alignment of stars.

You were the light at the end of the tunnel,

A secret calling of sorts —

One that had a celestial touch to it.

I asked for happiness,

A heartfelt gesture as the decade dawned.

He placed you perfectly next to me,

like an angel sent from above.

Oh, how could I resist, this calling so strong?

A sneak at the store,

A moment of silence,

Some chimes to light up an evening,

Two taps at the entrance.

Some key strikes at night,

Time paused on a flight :)

A charming smile as the gates opened

This rush when our hearts opened

You stood just close enough for comfort

How I silently hoped you did,

And it didn’t just deserve a goodbye

Because the heart was heavy,

the moment — sordid

How I wish I could just hold you, for you are mine,

And never succumb to these unfortunate ravages of time.

But hey, life works in mysterious ways,

You said in the wee of our days,

So believe, because I do —

Sometimes magic seeps through stories,

Sometimes through voice,

I see the love that zinged for us,

An electric delight to rejoice.

Purpose is a funny thing,

My brain keeps treading mountains, it’s wandering.

Your touch can stop time,

Your eyes can raise this rush so inexplicable — my heart sinks every couple times.

If only I could throw a rope across the globe,

And pull you just a little closer.

If I could, I would take you by a wing so firm,

I would treasure you — here and now.

But as you believe, so shall I,

Faith, mystery, magic

We bonded on a flight..

Hope to never lose sight of you, my love.

Because we are worth the fight.

And hopefully, with every ounce I can bestow,

I shall hold on with all might,

Not often do stars align,

And souls connect benign..

Funny, it seems like a movie they say —

And I don’t deny, it’ll be pure dismay.

So hey! You can set the groove,

I shall hear your music,

And pray that this dreamy reality stays true,

It was all for this free verse rhyme after all,

That I called you Fondue!

I write free verse poetry when I am overwhelmed. Appreciating humanity, emotions and colors of life otherwise :)
